Chevy Safety Spotlight
Chevrolet outs the comfort and safety of drivers and passengers first, routinely equipping its vehicles with state-of-the-art safety features and technology. Its three-tiered safety philosophy is to “prevent, protect, respond.” With its innovative safety technologies and designs, Chevy strives to prevent an accident from happening in the first place, protect the driver and passengers in the event of an accident, and respond to an accident in an effective manner. With this three-fold safety approach, we at Love Chevrolet believe that Chevy vehicles offer you remarkable safety and support.
To prevent an accident or collision, Chevy equips its vehicles with various active and passive safety technologies. For instance, the Stabilitrak® Electronic Stability Control System is standard across all Chevrolet vehicles, increasing traction and control in various road and driving conditions. In addition, Chevrolet has worked hard to develop advanced active safety and driver-assist technology, like Lane Keep Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Forward Safety Awareness. Lane Keep Assist helps you stay safely within your lane by correcting lane drift, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert uses sensors to detect vehicles approaching from either direction as you back up, warning you of their presence. The Forward Safety Awareness system is two-fold. It uses Forward Collision Alert to alert you to detected vehicles in your path and Forward Automatic Braking to detect if a front-end collision is possible and automatically apply the brakes to help reduce or prevent collision.
To protect you while on the road, Chevy builds sturdy, durable vehicles using high-strength materials. In addition to providing a high-strength frame and safety cage, Chevy equips its cars with advanced airbag systems (with some vehicles offering 10 standard air bags) and LATCH (Lower Anchors and Top Tethers for Children) systems. This helps reduce the risk and severity of injuries if a collision occurs.
Lastly, Chevrolet is dedicated to responding in the event of an accident. Chevy drivers are given OnStar® with Automatic Crash Response, which uses your vehicle’s sensors to automatically detect an accident and contact an OnStar® Advisor to see if you need assistance. If you cannot respond, OnStar® can use GPS technology to find your exact location and send emergency help. OnStar® comes with most Chevrolet models for three months of service, and you are encouraged to extend this service to continue protecting yourself and your passengers.
