Customer Complaint Regarding Service on July 3, 2026
On July 3, 2026, I brought my vehicle to Love Chevrolet for routine service. When I arrived, I asked my service advisor, Austin Myers, how much the service would cost. He told me it would be approximately $70. I then asked if I could apply my $20 coupon, and he said yes. Based on that conversation, I reasonably expected my total bill to be about $50 plus tax.
However, when I received my invoice, the total came to $101.16—nearly double what I had been led to expect.
Upon reviewing the invoice, I found two charges that had never been discussed with me or authorized by me:
44K Fuel System Customer Request – $29.95
Miscellaneous Charge – $7.03
I never requested the fuel system service, nor did anyone ask for my approval before adding it to the invoice. Customers should not be billed for services they did not authorize.
Austin did offer to refund the $29.95 but I was upset about it being on the invoice in the first place. I did pay the full invoice but in hindsight I shouldn’t have.
I left the dealership feeling frustrated and taken advantage of.
After I got home, I called Love Chevrolet and spoke with Jessica. I asked to speak with General Manager Brendon and left my name and phone number, requesting a return call. Unfortunately, I never received one. As a customer, I found that very disappointing. It gave me the impression that my concerns were not important.
The following Tuesday afternoon, I called again and spoke with Service Manager Blake Bowles, who had been unavailable earlier. I asked if we could meet with Austin, Blake, and myself to discuss my concerns, and Blake agreed.
During our meeting, I explained that, as far as I know, these additional charges appear to be built into the dealership’s invoicing process. Whether intentional or not, adding services that were not requested or approved creates the impression that customers are being charged for work they did not authorize. That is not the level of honesty or transparency I expect from a dealership.
At the end of our meeting, Blake asked what he could do to resolve the situation. I told him that Love Chevrolet owed me $30 plus the applicable tax, representing the unauthorized fuel system charge. Instead of refunding the money, he offered me a coupon for a free oil change.
While I appreciate the gesture, it did not address the actual issue. These charges I believe should never have been added to my bill. I told Blake that, because of this experience, I would probably not be returning to Love Chevrolet for future service.
I believe customers deserve accurate estimates, clear explanations of any recommended additional services, and the opportunity to approve or decline those services before they are performed. Those basic expectations were not met in my case.
